Children are quite remarkable. When you make a promise to them, they never forget. I had such an experience with my colleague’s children yesterday.
Some weeks back, I promised them that I was going to take them out but somehow I couldn’t fulfil on my promise. I went to their home yesterday and the reply I got when I asked how they were doing was, “we are not fine.” Then they reminded me about my promise. So we set out to an ice cream parlour in the neighbourhood. They were jostling with excitement all the way, and when we got there, before I could say “ice cream”, they ordered for the biggest bowl on display. Well, we all sat down to eat and as I was eating, it dawned on me what Jesus meant by saying, “except……..you become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
God wants us to become like children in our relationship with Him. He wants us to hold Him by His word and promises to us and go for the biggest offer on His promises. However, a lot of times our “adult senses” kick in and prevent us from experiencing the best of His Kingdom. If we are to “enter” into His kingdom, then we must, like these children, take Him by His word and His word only. God has made several promises to us but a lot of us are living short on these promises. It is time we tell the Father about His promises and believe that He can fulfil them. We see a perfect example in Abraham who got God’s promise, because he was “fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.” Another thing to note from my experience is that those kids did not bother about how much money I had or anything. To them, I had promised, so they can have anything they wanted. That’s the same way we should relate with God. Let us stop “helping” Him to manage His resources. Make your full order on His promises today.
Take a little time to think about this. Thanks for stopping by. 😉
Cheers!
……….“helping” Him to manage His resources. You just reminded me of what I learn’t some days back “as you ask, so you will be given”. Thanks for teaching me something new again. This is beautiful. Keep it up.
Another place that expresses the mind of God on this clearly is Eph 4:20, which reads….”Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us”
New revelation, you just made it very simple to understand. God bless you! I’m the head and not the tail! No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for ME! With long life will he satisfy me and show me his salvation. I can go on and on. I’m going to just take the promises as simply as those kids, no more, no less. Yippee
tx!
Thanks Marie! Indeed, we are blessed. We just need to work on our faith. Am working on mine and am expecting a “BIG BOWL OF ICE Cream!”
